Topic Summary
The year is 2030, and the world is both as harsh and as digital as it has ever been. More and more of the global society predicates itself upon digital infrastructure and takes on the commensurate risks associated with it. From digital bank accounts and online finances to power grids and transportation networks, the functioning – and thus, the security – of nations only grows more digital with time. Within this committee, delegates will tackle the questions of cybersecurity in this digital era by representing members on a new special advisory council generated by the office of the President of the United States of America. As representatives of various agents within the digital world called upon by the American government to assist the nation’s cybersecurity status, delegates will have to navigate the evolving technological landscape, the dynamics of international relations in the cyberwar age, and the issues of lagging domestic digital infrastructure. This committee and its constituent delegates must express both foresight and adaptability as the fate of American cybersecurity rests in their hands.
