Topic Summary
Health is a universal ideal that permeates identities, philosophies, and borders. All humans strive for a sound mind in a sound body. Through this, we can reach our greatest potential – brightening the world with our happiness, productivity, and unbridled humanity. Unfortunately, such wellness is not assured for everyone. Far too often, we see how under-resourced emergency care in developing countries can cut lives unnecessarily short. Globally, we see mental health crises take a toll on the human experience.
This committee aims to bolster global health by creating frameworks that address both emergency care in developing countries and the world’s mental health epidemic. Through publications like its 2021 Classification and Minimum Standard for Emergency Medical Teams and its 2022 World Mental Health Report, the World Health Organization has spent time and energy trying to create such a framework. It is up to the delegates in this committee to debate, finalize, and implement the strategies that they think are best and far-reaching to every corner of the globe. How can WHO use its power to most efficiently and effectively end these health crises?
